Fuzuli Shusha highway in Azerbaïdjan

FPC Italia and Freysas have been awarded an important job to build 3 different ILM viaducts (incremental launch method) for the new Fuzuli-Shusha highway in Azerbaïdjan.
FPC Italia will supply n. 76 seismic isolators in rubber with lead core type ISOSISM® LRB-N dia. 950x187 mm and each isolator will be equipped with a wedge plate to adapt the slope of the deck.

Due to the high seismicity it was decided to isolate the bridge ensuring an elastic response of the piles consequently avoiding damage during an earthquake. All devices have been successfully designed and tested according to the European standard EN 15129.
The project also includes the use of TERON SB multidirectional spherical bearings with over 5000 kN of vertical load and almost 1000 mm of longitudinal movement to withstand the vertical load and not transmit shear forces to the deck.
All Freyssinet skills worked together to carry out a great project making it safe and achieving global savings.
