BU Italy site Dept. is involved in a site of considerable importance.
FPC Italia has been awarded the replacement and supply of new POT bearings and the supply and installation of expansion joints on the SS33 Sempione and Olona.

The activities include the lifting of the bridges for the removal of the old bearings and the insertion of new ones designed and produced by us. These are Tetron CD bearings with vertical loads up to 2500 kN, horizontal loads over 1200 kN and movements up to 200 mm.

The lifting operation of the deck heads from below was carried out by means of hydraulic equipment controlled by a hydraulic unit at differentiated pressures and constant volumetric ratio, with electronic control of the movements to ensure rigid lifting without inducing flexural-torsional stresses to the structures.
